Post-Production: Social Media sites for the Website

As I was thoroughly inspired by Lorde and Charlie XCX’s website, I examined and explored it thoroughly. I quickly found the reason I was so intrigued and engaged with it is due to its attention to its social media platforms. Therefore, I wanted viewers who are exploring our website for SIOUX to feel the same engagement with our site and therefore I felt the need to develop and pay attention to the social media pages. For example, firstly I took time in deciding which social media sites are most effective and which demonstrate impressive, diverse information. Therefore, after long research I chose to include five sites, including Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, SoundCloud and lastly Instagram. I wanted to take on this challenge as I want individuals who are navigating my site to feel visually connected and creatively impressed. When creating all these social media sites, I am constantly considering her interest and image of youth, rebellion, spontaneity and fun. As well as this, across all the social media sites, I will make a conscious effort of following influential people that SIOUX has been inspired by. Similarly, most of these social media and networking sites are connected, so SIOUX’S supposed fans can be easily navigational and direct. The main focus of including these five, detailed sites is to additionally allow viewers to gain further material to the website.

Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/SIOUXmusicofficial

As I am aware, ‘Facebook’ is one of the world’s most popular social media platform. It is a ‘free social networking website that allows users to create profiles, upload photos and video, send messages’ and to also allow individuals to know your updates in life – perfect for an artist. Similarly, Facebook includes public features, such as, ‘Pages,’ a function allowing one to create and promote a public page built around a specific topic, such as their career.

Therefore, I felt this was ideal for our artist SIOUX and for fans to follow her through this social platform. In this site, I want to include regular updates, such as, images, videos and relevant text for SIOUX supposing fans. Similarly, the Facebook site is created to allow individuals to feel engaged with her everyday life, such as events or her thoughts. I will post personal or open or oppositely things SIOUX is inspired by every known and again to keep the page active and alive.

Twitter - https://twitter.com/musicSIOUX

My second social media platform I wish to include into my website is ‘Twitter.’ Twitter is a ‘free social networking microblogging service that allows members to broadcast short posts called tweets.’ Similarly, ‘Twitter members can broadcast tweets and follow other users’ tweets by using multiple platforms and devices.’ It is a great way to find out what’s happening in the world today and new updated information about someone, such as an artist. Due to this, I think SIOUX’s followers would benefit greatly from an update every known and again.
I will tweet regular scribed updates as well as visual images and potential videos to keep viewers interested and engaged through other platforms.

Tumblr- https://siouxmusicofficial.tumblr.com

I wanted to include ‘Tumblr’ into SIOUX’s website as I think Tumblr is one of the creatively founded social media platform and therefore I feel followers would benefit greatly. ‘Tumblr is a microblogging and social networking website founded in 2007. The service allows users to post multimedia, (mostly images) and other content to a short-form blog. Users can also follow other users.’

Luckily Tumblr is an easy to use site which allowed me to repost images SIOUX is interested in as well as posting her own personal information. I am constantly considering her interests, inspirations and thoughts throughout creating this site.

SoundCloud- https://soundcloud.com/siouxmusicofficial

I felt the need to include ‘SoundCloud’ into the link follow as SoundCloud is a different social media platform specialising in music. For instance, ‘SoundCloud is the world’s leading social sound platform where anyone can listen to or create sounds and share them everywhere.’

I will post SIOUX’s latest releases as well as following artists SIOUX is interested and inspired by. By being a creator, it allows SIOUX to easily record and upload her sounds to SoundCloud for an automatic recognition. SoundCloud allows users to either share them privately amongst chosen individuals or publicly to viewers, blogs, sits and most social networking sites. This is a great platform to engage directly with your SIOUX’s supposed fans with comments and promotion to her work.

Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/siouxofficialmusic/

As I understand, ‘Instagram’ is an ‘online photo-sharing site that enables users to take pictures and share them either publicly or privately via the app.’ Therefore, I wanted SIOUX to have her own Instagram page to allow viewers to explore further, personal information about our artist. However, as the website can be a big job, Harvey offered to take control of the Instagram page and therefore he created it. For example, Harvey created the site by gathering images or videos consisting of either personal and genuine posts or inspired information.

Post-Production: Final updated Website

From lastly making some bold decisions and changes regarding our website, I have been constantly considering small details and finishing touches to making the website to the best of our potential. For example, after examining and exploring the site, we felt firstly felt the black opaque rectangle across the homepage didn’t look aesthetically pleasing and therefore looked random and so in addition to this, we removed it from the homepage. After removing the black rectangle box, we realised the four links, such as listen, tour, follow and sign-up were too big and therefore we decreased the size of each. Seeing as we created our GIF using GIPHY previous to this, we knew we wanted to swap it with our black and white primary GIF. After exchanging the GIF, the site started to feel as though it was coming together but we realised the marbled background came across too dark and so therefore we lightened it.  After being satisfied with the homepage, we moved onto developing and correcting each of the four links.

Firstly, we started with listen. As a group, we all appreciate and were fond of the pop up lightbox promoting SIOUX latest release and therefore wanted to keep that, however we did not appreciate the strong pink we had previously picked and therefore altered this to a faded tone of white. As well as this, we didn’t feel the marbled background was hugely effective and therefore we changed the background to a lighter, crisp and clean finish. After feeling pleased with the listen page, we altered the tour page. For example, we linked the artist, ‘Bishop Briggs’ with the app ‘Bandsintown’ and therefore immediately the page fell together as it was filled with information. However, we weren’t completely fond of the strong, distinct colours we had used for the first two rectangles and therefore darken them and turned down the opacity. As we progressed forward, we were happy with our changed results so far and knew we had to alter the page follow. We had previously inserted an instant newsletter sign-up for SIOUX using a lightbox, although Harvey and myself felt this newsletter could be a page on its own and therefore removed this lightbox from our page follow. Again, we removed the rectangular opaque black box as we felt it didn’t look complete with it. Lastly, we deleted the page about as we felt this was not needed and the page started looking to crammed with information and beneficially changed it to a sign-up page.

After making these changes, Harvey and I were fully satisfied with our final updated website and looked for final touches before we published it. Luckily, we didn’t find many but we wanted to change all the return buttons from the links back to the homepage to subtle black icons of a house, by doing this it made the website look more professional and stylish.  Similarly, we went through the website and made sure every letter was in the font Futura and the same colour of green was used throughout. This was crucial as it helped make our website look neat and clean as well corresponding with our other products.

Final finished update Website.

Although we are pleased with our finished website, we wanted to lastly examine how our website would look on numerous different browsers and screen sizes, to make sure it was correctly made. However, as we used the software Wix, it has its drawbacks and expectedly prevented some viewers from viewing our site correctly. Due to this, the video above shows what it looks like on an Apple MacBook and how it should be viewed as the site was created and constructed on an Apple MacBook. Therefore, any viewers wanting to explore our website for SIOUX, should be viewed on an Apple MacBook or at the least a laptop for best results.
