Pre-Production: Set Design

Today we met with Paul and spoke to him about our set. Paul is a set designer who is helping us to build and construct our set.

After speaking to him, we concluded we will use 3 wall flats on either side, so 6 wall flats and 3 ceiling flats. We decided on these dimensions as we felt this will be big enough for our to film and also reinforce the idea of a claustrophobic small room.

We then discussed using a grey breeze block texture, which Pail suggested for our walls as this will help give the impression of a realistic cell. We also planned to use a heavy duty door for our shoot but we realised using the studio doors that are already in the studio would be better as they are more convenient for what we need. For instance, when our actor tries and gets out of the room, he will probably bang the door and there will be no worries as the doors in the studio are sturdy and unbreakable, where as if we made our own heavy duty doors there could be worry of breakage.
