My third initial idea and the last
possibility to consider is the song ‘Greek Tragedy’ by the inspirational band
‘The Wombats’ in 2015.
The Wombats are an English rock band formed
in 2003 in Liverpool. The band consists of many members all confidently taking
their roles of talent, such as lead vocals, backing vocals, guitars, bass
guitars, keyboards, drums, percussion. The large band were successfully signed
by 14th Floor Records but also Bright Antenna, from the band being
singed in both UK and America, it allows access to growth in global population
and recognition. Therefore The Wombats have sold over one million copies
worldwide. The band hold high talent creating the song ‘Greek Tragedy’, written
by three of the band members and co-producer.
Music Video
For my third concept, I have considered the
genre of the band and therefore created possibilities of making my music video
individual, unique and perhaps add dance like aspects due to their genres,
indie rock, alternative dance and synthpop. The idea started and sprung from
the location I intend to use, for instance I wish for this music video to be
shot in an art gallery. I chose to use an art gallery as its creative, original
and alternative. For example, I want there to be three dancers performing
contemporary ballet surrounded by the art. The dance would be subtle and strong
yet follow a moving and emotive style creating visions of a collaborative,
colourful and collective piece of art through movement. I can also use editing
to possibly slow down parts of the dance to make it more interesting and
engaging.
However,
as the song echo’s aspects of sudden and dramatic sounds at times, I wish to
also use a boy band located in the studio. For instance, they will be a basic,
plain band wearing plain jeans and a top to juxtapose with the setting of the
colourful art. I also feel I could make the set with the band have a black and
white effect to contrast even more with the vibrant art location. I will use
many different types of shots throughout.
To add a
sense of interest, I also intend for the drums to have water on them. So when
the drums are hit, the water suddenly bounces of them creating a unique and
intriguing effect. Similarly, I want their to be speakers in the studio to add
to the design set up and I wish for the speakers to have coloured paint in
them, allowing the paint to bounce off.
