Post-Production: Creating our GIF

As my group and I are constantly considering potential aspects and elements to include in our products, Harvey and I wanted to create a GIF in order to make the website effective and unique. I desire to incorporate a GIF for our Website homepage as it immediately attracts the viewer and entices them with a snippet of excitement and interest towards SIOUX’s latest release. Similar to this, it adds ideas of youth, fun and rebellion to embrace our artist’s image. Therefore, Harvey and I will accurately and considerably create a suitable GIF.

From examining positives and drawbacks from rough drafts of our website previously, we knew we wanted a GIF to feature as a main focal point for our site. As we weren’t completely pleased with our previous GIF made up of only images, so therefore we have agreed to use a moving video instead of an image. We carefully picked the correct short clip for our GIF by re-watching our final finished video a few times and sensibly found the movement in which intrigued and met our demands the most.

We then used the software iMovie and uploaded the short clip within this software. We didn’t want our GIF to be too short so therefore we duplicated the clip and reversed it, so therefore it ran forward and backwards in one small motion. After examining our short clip, we weren’t completely satisfied and realised the short video was too quick and therefore needed to be slowed down by playing around with the speed until it was faultless. Before slowing down our clip, our video looked messy but by changing the speed of it, it adds a more prominent focus and a professional finish. After feeling satisfied with our clip, we uploaded our short reversed clip to YouTube before exporting it to a app called GIPHY. GIPHY is an online database and search engine that allows users to create their own GIFS as well as searching and sharing GIF files amongst each other. To create our GIF, we simply used create-a-gif tool and achieved our intentions. Both Harvey and I were relieved as we were happy with our first attempt and therefore didn’t need to complete the process again.

This is our GIF.
