Target
audience – ‘A particular group at which a product such as a film or
advertisement is aimed.’
I
wanted to ask some people these questions by carrying out interviews to
successfully see which age range suited my thriller best and who my target
audience where. I wanted to interview people as I learnt my target audience can
be made up of people who have different needs and goals but are all relatively
on the same level; so therefore I wanted to specifically see who would fit my
thriller best by having a one to one clear interview.
I
interviewed many people asking them the following questions:
1) How
old are you?
2)
What is your favourite genre of film?3) What do you expect to see in a Thriller?
4)
What is your favourite Thriller and why?
5)
Would you go and see my Thriller?
I
decided to ask them these particular questions as from these investigations, as
I could clearly tell who was best suited for my thriller, but also I could see
which age range answered similarly. It is very important to get your target
audience correct, as it is a crucial element to consider. For instance, you
want people who are attracted to your thriller and have interest in things
happening within it. Reasons for this are simple as then the audience enjoy it
and recommend it to others. However, if you get your target audience wrong,
then the film won’t be successful and all the time and hard work put into it is
wasted.
I
decided to start with the question ‘How are you?’ as it just allows the person being
interviewed to immediately give personal information and we know very clearly
which age range we are dealing with. The next two questions fall together
quoting ‘What your favourite genre of film is?’ and ‘your favourite thriller?’
as it lets us instantly seek what they are interested in and if their opinions
and comments are similar to what we show in our thriller. Lastly, by asking if
they ‘would go and see our thriller?’ lets us accurately contemplate whether
that age is suitable for our thriller.
From
finding out this further information I could clearly see whom my target
audience is.
