The importance of mood boards

Based on research mood boards (sometimes called inspiration boards) are used in a variety of disciplines. In essence they are a compilation of inspirational elements to flesh out ideas at the beginning of a project.

A mood board is extremely useful for establishing the aesthetic feel of something. Things that can be explored in the mood board include photography style, colour, patterns, props, designs and the overall look and feel of the site. A mood board can either be achieved physically by hand with textures or achieved digitally. I created a mood board outlining concepts for our girl group, including, bitchy stares, swimming, bubble gum, lollipops, smoke machine, roller skates, costumes and hair styles.
