Developing Ideas - 2nd

In preparation for pitching to Luke, my group and I understand we need two detailed ideas to pitch to Luke in case he doesn’t approve of our strongest choice. Therefore, we chose to shortlist the ‘Playground’ idea as this was our second strongest. This idea sprang from the concept of vibrant colours and enjoyable, interesting visions. This idea includes three different elements. However, this concept isn’t as strong as are other.

The first element was inspired by aspects of the song. For example, height is shown at points in the song, therefore I wanted there to be a reason for the climax and movement to grow. The concept will follow a style of street, including dancers performing a choreographed piece in the style of street. The dance would be located in an abandon building, this location will allow areas to play with the set, such as broken stairs or distraught furniture.

The second includes basic studio work. Through the different elements, I wanted to show complete contrast, therefore I wanted this location to show experimental shadows and intense lighting. The basic room will be filled with 5 strong band members echoing the music amongst dark, black walls.

The last shows aspects of a painted speaker or a drummer. For example, when the speaker or beat grows, paint bounces off the drum or speaker, creating interesting and successfully communicated visuals. This also adds a sense of excitement and a contrast between the other two elements. This will be shot in the studio but filled with interesting lights surrounding the speaker or drummer.
