Pre-Production: Cutting the Track

We are consistently and accurately working our way through our developed plan and our journey has come to the point of cutting our track. We understand it is crucial to carefully cut the track but it is also of huge importance to undoubtedly keep the successful parts of the song. However, we felt our song needed to be cut as it was falling repetitive and potentially too long. By editing our song, it also allows us to include less elements but still effective and engaging.

Therefore, we listened to our song Pray (Empty Gun) and carefully noted crucial aspects of the song, including effective highs and lows, and inspirational speed and tempos. The track originally consists of four minutes. As a group we made a bold decision to cut the track down by at least a minute, if not more. We all come to an agreeable decision that we wanted to include the bridge into our video. In order to achieve this, we researched free online audio editing software’s and instantly found the effective website ‘Audacity.’ Through the power of Audacity, we carefully cut out the second verse and the second chorus of the song. However, we repeatedly did this so the cut was finally smooth and not obvious.

Overall, our song cut from the first verse and the first chorus straight to the bridge. The new track is now two minutes and thirty-five seconds.
