After
researching potential locations for our video, we now feel it is essential to
organise the concepts of our video. For instance, as we have subtracted many of
our elements but also added additional elements, we feel we should create a
short visual representation video filling just under two minutes of our ideas. We
wanted to create a quick edit summarising our elements as my group and I needed
to visually see if our two significant elements worked well together and suited
our song. However, the visual representation fell debatable as to whether it
worked or not.
For example,
Harvey composed the visual representation, filling it with our conceptual elements
of dancing by ‘Matt
Steffanina’s’ choreography of ‘Cold Water’ combined with ‘MØ's Walk This Way’ video and lastly ‘Azealia
Bank's The Big Big Beat.’ We
wanted to merge all three sources as we felt as a group we have all been thoroughly
inspired and driven.
However, overseeing the short edit we sense the elements don’t gel well together, although they work well independently, therefore, we understand we have to cut one of our elements. This was not as easy decision as we are fond and appreciate all our ideas, although through considerable time we have decided to cut the dancers. One of our dancers had to drop out anyway, so we felt it made sense cutting the whole dance idea. This was a big choice as this element was strong however did not sync with our product.
After a few major changes to our concept, our music video is
now based upon a girl group. My group and I force this element as aspects of
bitchy stares work very well without music. Although our visual representation didn’t
include any lip syncing it was hard to completely visualise ideas further
towards our final product, as our video is very much performance based. As we
can clearly see, a group of girls conforming bitchy stares can seek
repetitiveness and show tiresome aspects, therefore, we understand we need to
think of additional things for the girls to do or evidently change our song, however this is not a popular suggestion. Similarly, the girls’ movements
need to be quick paced and exciting to balance with our reasonably slow track.
Overall, my group and I feel simple can be most effective, confining our aim towards the idea of simple, unique concepts; following the art of not complicating things. From this edit, as a group we have also decided to cut the use of a studio and shoot our whole video in one of our potential locations. All three inspiring videos use mostly one location. Reviewing our visual representation, a lot has altered in our video, for instance, we have lost the dancers and the studio but we feel it is a beneficial decision.
