Post-Production: Responding to the Focus Group

After evaluating the beneficial session of our focus group. I instantly began responding to the feedback given, covering concerns regarding the website, however I felt something big was missing from completing the website. For instance, when I reviewed more websites for motivational inspiration, we all startled upon MØ’s, Charlie XCX , Sia and Lorde’s websites and realised a logo played a big part in their products as well as simplicity. Therefore, as a group we decided creating a logo could be beneficial for the website. From the focus group feedback, I made the bold and brave decision of completely starting from scratch as I felt this was the most effective method. For instance, as I wanted to achieve the youthful, bright, rebellious concept of our artist, I felt the template I had previously followed and used was limiting my choices and creative freedom and therefore I wanted to start again.

Similarly, from observing similar websites, I understand simplicity travels along way. Therefore, as a group we made the confidential choice of following a simplistic, clear theme but weaving creative concepts within. For instance, notably analysing MØ's website, we appreciate the basic use of layout as it is clear, creative and well structured, giving off appropriate and correct messages and concepts. I also recognise the homepage of the website needs to be the main focal point as it will determine whether viewers want to explore links within it or not. Also, broadly speaking, all the inspired websites follow a visual and clear style. For instance, the artist’s websites maintain a simple homepage and then present links which one can travel down after. Therefore, I will constructively and confidently begin to create my own, again using the software Wix. Consequently, the focus group gave me a big beneficial change in my direction and ideas.
