Pre-Production: Change of cast

Today, we were updated with some unexpected and troubled news, being that Victoria Vanbreugel, one of our cast members had to unfortunately drop out due to involuntary illness. This came as a shock to my group as we were fully prepared with all our cast members; for example, we had completed test shoots, fitted their appropriate measurements, chosen their hair, makeup and costumes and were ready to shoot them. Not only this, we had spent time bonding and getting to know our cast as we all felt by gaining a connection with our cast, it would help them feel more comfortable and confident. However, due to this, we understood we needed to make some accurate changes in order for our video to still work and fall according to plan.

For instance, we looked at our cast members and simply noted which individuals we need and are a true asset to our video, such as, Anjuli Vadera, Louisa Binder and lastly Charlotte Penrice. As a group, we felt bad cutting one of our cast members but we feel our video would look visually better with three girls and possibly two boys instead. Similarly, our last cast member, Emma Bokken hasn’t shown much interest or commitment compared to our other, for instance, showing poor attendance to all our test shoots and arrangements and lack of replying to our constant emails. Due to this, we have carefully and considerably spoken to Emma, and she was fine with our decision but happy to have been considered.
Moving forward, our cast now consists of three girls. As a group, we feel we need more than just three girls however, we are struggling to think of more girls to replace Victoria and Emma. Due to struggling with this, we effectively considered many possibilities and finally ended with deciding to additionally add two boys to replace the two girls. My group and I spent long thinking of potential boys we could cast and finally agreed to request for two boys in the year below; Luca Chiarin and Xaviar Swiderski. Similarly, we already know these too boys and so they luckily won’t be afraid or uncomfortable on shoot day.

It is effective and original including three girls and two boys, instead of a whole girl group as it is common to use just girls. We want our video to be distinct from others and hopefully stand out. Due to the change in our cast members, we weren’t able to complete our test shoot, however, we did gather our final cast together including our three girls and two boys to see if it worked or not. My group and I agreed our decision was successful and our cast all look good together and worked as an effective collective force. In preparation for our video, we rapidly need to gather costumes for our boys and update them with relevant, correct information.
